Initially designed for a friend -- who, to be fair, never had an expression that goofy on his face when I knew him -- this never did see the light of day as an actual garment. It's highly likely I will attempt to adapt it later, possibly for myself when the costume studio space is reclaimed from the unholy chaos it's become.

No, you're not imagining things -- the piping is a host of zippers, and this would be some very heavily studded black leather with buckles in place of more traditional lacings. The garment's structure is based on an Elizabethan doublet, but the similarity to an actual period garment completely ends there.
